The Road Ahead for Representative Linda Kochmar
by christruppner
November 6 2012 — After a hard fought campaign, Linda Kochmar became Federal Way’s newly elected member to Washington’s State House of Representatives. Kochmar has a long record within her community including her 14 year service on the Federal Way city council, a stent as Mayor, and as Deputy Mayor.
At first glance, it seems that Kochmar would be a great pick for State Representative. Sadly, there are some barriers that she will need to overcome. When the Washington State House of Representatives reconvenes in January, Representative Kochmar will take her seat as a Freshman lawmaker. Her first job will be to make friends with members of her own party in order to get on a good committee and gain support to pass bills. Representative Kochmar ran as a member of the Republican party which holds the Minority in the State House. Can Representative Kochmar overcome the barriers to become a great lawmaker?
Mr Truppner, your post was silly. Linda Kochmar is an adult who already knows members of “both sides” in Olympia. Do you think that a Republican cannot play well with others? While I’m at it, I might point out that our new Republican member of the Legislature represents all the constituents of the 30th District. Why on earth would you assume she has barriers to becoming a great lawmaker?
Maureen thank you for writing me on my post. I have know doubt that Linda Kochmar could become a great Lawmaker but here is why Representative Kochmar will have some barriers to over come. It does help to know Members of both sides and I do believe the are new member of the State House can play well with others. The Question I am putting to you is do you think that a House and Senate controlled by the democratic members. I was just sharing what I thought where some good points in know way do I think Linda Kochmar will make a bad State Representative. I thank you for sharing your views with me and a chance to have this conversation with you.
Chris, I notice that you posted your acknowledgment on November 6th that Linda Kochmar won this election. But almost three weeks later and your constant companion still refuses to make the concession call.
